I pulled Matt aside during the reception. I just had to tell him…I looked at him and said, “You’re the real deal aren’t you?”
Every now and then we’re lucky enough to meet someone who is genuinely “nice.” I’m not talking about someone who just acts nice but someone who is nice through and through to their very core. I’m lucky enough to have a few people in my life who I think of as the real deal and I hope you do too.
Watching how people of all ages flocked to Matt at his and Yan’s reception it was obvious that he wasn’t lucky to have hired me. I was lucky to have been hired by him. It was different, it was deeper…it was simply real. I have shot more extravagant, material weddings but never one with so much obvious love on display. I would write a list but that would be silly and cheapen the “realness” of the moments I witnessed. I’m just grateful to have been there to be a small part of Matt and Yan’s wedding day.
I hope in these photos you can feel a nibble of the joy I tasted the day Yan and Matt were married.
These images are all digital captures and processed in Aperture which is my “first line of defense” wedding photography workflow tool. Black and white conversions and color enhancements were accomplished with Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 and Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0. I love both of these software packages for their ability to replicate the characteristics I get in my film photography.
