Thanks For Stopping By

Hi, I'm Phil Holland. Most days will find me with a camera in my hand at some point trying to see the things around me in a different light than the day before. I am a photographer specializing in weddings and love being around being people on one of the most special days of their life. I get to go to work and hang out with families celebrating an amazing event. It is always a great honor to be the person chosen to document such a day.

I am also a classical trumpet player. I grew up playing all the time and was fortunate to attend the Eastman School of Music for college. After Eastman I served as principal trumpet in the USAF Heritage of America Band followed by a year position in the Virginia Symphony. In 2001 I relocated to Dallas Texas and set up a trumpet studio began freelancing in the area. After my father passed away in 2005 I threw myself into photography, only a hobby until that point.

I am married to the former Lee Smith, also a classical trumpet player. Lee is a wonderful support and a terrific musician having studied at the Cleveland Institute, Yale and Northwestern. You won't find her playing as much lately. She has been a Dallas Police Officer for three years now and loves it.

I hope you enjoy looking around my blog. I'd like to invite you to visit my website at HollandPhotoStudio.com. If you are searching for the perfect photographer for your wedding I would be thrilled to talk with you.

A blog without comments is no fun. I would love to hear from you. Let me now who you are and what's on your mind.

Cinthya and Kyle’s Rings

Good News! I just finished post processing Cinthya and Kyle’s wedding images. This was the last shot of the night at almost 2:00. We were a little pressed for time before the ceremony and I wasn’t able to shoot the rings ahead of time. That’s one shot I don’t skip so I made sure to borrow the rings after the fun died down.

Cinthya and Kyle’s Cutting of the Cake

Cinthya and Kyle had a beautiful cake. I had a strobe set up on the bar to camera left for the sidelight seen. Gotta love Nikon’s CLS!

Cinthya and Her Mother

Cinthya wanted only her mother to see her before hand. It was nice that they got to spend those special few moments alone before her wedding.

Cora and Jeremy’s Wedding Party

Here’s a shot from the balcony right after the wedding ceremony. Obviously a great group!

Rings and Jelly Beans

I thought the blue Jelly Bellies would go well with the sapphires in Cora’s ring. Shot with the Nikon 105mm VR on tripod.
