Killdeer Mother Bird Nesting in Our Front Lawn

This mother killdeer nested in the mulch in our front lawn. I got this shot of her on her nest yesterday morning. We were really looking forward to seeing her chicks hatch but sadly the harshness of nature won out. I think the eggs were the victim of crows today. Hopefully they will nest here again sometime.

HDR Groom Photo (First Attempt)

I’m beginning to experiment with High Dynamic Range exposure blending. This shot of the groom and his buds was processed from one RAW file in Photomatix. Thanks to Trey Ratcliff over at StuckInCustoms for the great info and tutorials. This image may be a little over done but I dig it. Let me know what you think.

Another Rock Shot on Keys

On The Way Home From A Meeting in Lewisville…

I was driving home today after a meeting with new clients (Kari and Will it was great to meet you!) and I spotted a man in Army BDU’s with his wife and kids in the Little Elm park. My guess was he had just gotten home from Iraq and was playing with his kids in the park. I saw someone taking a picture of them under the high noon sun. We all know how disappointing those shots can be. I turned around in the next parking lot and drove back to the park.

I introduced myself and asked if they would like some nice shots. My guess was correct. Michael had just returned from Iraq and they had stopped at the park on the way back. He is a medic and has been in the Middle East for 18 months. He gets 29 days with his family and then reports back to his post in North Carolina until the fall. After that it’s back to Iraq. We talked for a minute about how high the moral is there with our troops and the speed at which the Iraqi Security Forces are taking over responsibilities. Good news that you don’t hear much on TV.

We took a some family portraits and it made my day. What a beautiful family.

To all our troops at home and abroad, thank you.

Wedding Rings, Pool Cue and Chalk

The groom from the wedding I shot tonight was shooting pool in the church rec room with the guys.  I saw a chance to try something fun with the rings.  I’m happy with how it turned out.  I’d love to hear what you think in the comments.

Shot with the Nikon D300 and 105mm VR.

Just the Two of Us

I just finished editing all of the photographs from Lorien and Sam’s wedding. Here is one more shot I wanted to share. These two are very complete together and this image resonates that feeling.

True Love

Sam and Lorien have obviously made the right choice. I think this picture and Lorien’s tear says it all.Sam and Lorien\'s wedding in Mesquite, Texas.

Great Photo Blog Link List from Camera Porn dot Net

Ryan Goodman CameraPorn.net wrote a terrific post today. He put together a huge list of great photography related websites in one post. I agree with him about the photography addiction. I’m the same way. I just keep finding more and more great folks to read and learn from. If I’m not shooting I’m reading or thinking about shooting. Check out the great post titled “60 Photography Links You Can’t Live Without.”
